Low & Low - Cemeteries can be quite beautiful. In this shot, first off, you will note the orange lichen that adorns the stones of William & Mary Low.
Lichens are an interesting life form comprised of part algae and part fungus. The two live symbiotically, each contributing to the survival of the other. The three main types of lichens found in New England are: crustose, foliose, and fructicose. The type you see in this photo is off the crustose variety. You may not notice lichen in highly industrial areas as they're extremely sensitive to pollution. That said, they will most definitely flourish in low pollution areas providing us with dramatic effect.
